First Bank of San Luis Obispo (FBSLO) opened its doors in the city of San Luis Obispo in 1980 with a focus on serving local businesses and professionals. At the time there were no other community banks serving San Luis Obispo.

In June 1981, the Bank first received approval to become an SBA lender and in August 1986 the U.S. Small Business Administration approved FBSLO's SBA Preferred Lender status. Since 1981, in addition to being one of the top Central California SBA lenders, FBSLO has nominated 11 Central California businesses for the annual “Small Business of the Year” award with 6 of those nominated winning the top spot in the SBA’s Fresno District.

FBSLO has an extremely strong history of community involvement and our officers and employees consistently are actively involved in dozens of local organizations in San Luis Obispo County. During our 25 year history, we have donated over a million dollars back into community organizations.

We are proud of our history of sound financial management and carefully planned growth. Our Directors, Founders, Officers, and staff are all well established in our communities and know how to respond to our customers' needs. This market knowledge and the flexibility of local ownership have been key ingredients to the success of our Banks.
